Punching Machine

Do you know the working principle of punch feeder?

The feeder is an indispensable auxiliary equipment to realize automatic operation of punch press. Because there are many kinds of punch, wide range of applicable materials and different processing technology, many kinds of feeder appear. Commonly there are three types of air feeder, roller feeder and NC servo feeder. HARSLE introduces the working principles of the three commonly used models, so as to help you choose and use them better.

A. Air feeder

Also known as pneumatic feeder. Its principle is similar to that of medical syringe. It uses the external compressed air source to provide power, presses down the floating rod installed on the punch slider, and operates the five-hole valve to control the direction of compressed air, so as to achieve the purpose of intermittent feeding.

Advantages of air feeder: the price is economical, and the automatic production of punch can be realized under the circumstance of small investment.

But the air feeder also has significant disadvantages:

1. Slow feeding speed. Due to the limitation of external air source pressure and flow rate, the action cycle of air feeder is long, which cannot meet the requirements of high-speed feeding. It is only suitable for supporting the use of low-speed punch press.

2. Poor feeding accuracy and instability. Because of the working principle of pneumatic push, the air feeder clamps the material and pushes the material at the same time. The material will slip unpredictably during the push, resulting in poor feeding accuracy; At the same time, there are a lot of air feeder O ring, seals and other vulnerable parts, it is easy to be not in place due to the maintenance of air leakage and other faults, resulting in unstable operation of the machine.

B.Roller feeder

Also known as mechanical feeder. Its principle is similar to stone grinding tofu, through the punch output shaft drive pull rod, pull rod pull roller rocker arm, rocker arm drive shaft. A one-way device converts the reciprocating motion of the transmission shaft into a one-way feeding motion of the feeding drum. At the same time, the roller feeder is equipped with a brake to prevent the roller from receding.

Advantages of roller feeder: high-cost performance, no additional air source and power supply; High mechanical transmission stability, low fault.

But the roller feeder also has significant disadvantages:

1. After the feeding step needs to be stopped, adjust the eccentric disc mounted on the output shaft of the punch, and adjust it for many times before calibration.

2. Installation is limited, and the applicable material width, thickness and feeding step are strictly limited.

C.NC servo feeder

Also known as NC/ CNC feeder, it is driven by a servo motor feeding drum feeding action. The control of servo motor is completed by touch screen and PLC.

Advantages of NC servo feeder: easy to operate and set on the touch screen; Wide range of application, high degree of customization, high feeding accuracy, good stability, can be multi-section feeding, high feeding accuracy, at the same time can transport any length of sheet.

Disadvantages of NC servo feeder: high cost (the cost of servo motor used alone is far higher than air feeder and roller feeder); Slow feeding speed (affected by the response of servo system), unable to meet the requirements of high-speed feeding.
