4 reasons for the punch motor heating

The motor is a kind of electrical device that realizes the electric energy conversion in the punch equipment. In the actual use process, the motor often burns out due to the body heat.

So, what causes the motor to heat up?

Generally speaking, there are four major causes of motor heating:

First, the cause of overheat around the stator resistance.

The stator has a resistance around the resistance, and the current will be heated.

In an electric motor, the resistance is basically constant, and the amount of heat generated depends only on the current.

The current does not exceed the rated current, the motor will not overheat around the resistance, the current exceeds the rated current, around the resistance will overheat.

Any cause of an increase in current is also the cause of overheating around the resistance.

Secondly, the cause of overheating core.

The core of the motor is silicon steel sheet. The follows are some causes:

1, The operator doesn’t install rotor correctly or the bearing wears seriously, so that the rotor and the stator core collide.

2, the voltage is too high, so that the alternating flux increases, the energy loss and the heat generated in the core increase.

3. Insulation damage between silicon steel sheets causes short circuit between sheets and increase of eddy current loss.

4. Short circuit fault or wiring error occurs around the stator resistance.

Thirdly, the cause of bearing overheating.

The heat in the bearing results in the friction between the ball and the inner and outer rings. The reasons for overheating are:

1. Lack of oil, too much oil or too thick oil.

2, The oil is too dirty, mixed with other small particles or poor oil quality.

3. Bending of bearings, serious wear of bearings or other faults.

4. The motor shaft is not well calibrated or the belt is too tight, so that the bearing is under pressure and the friction increases.

5. Bad installation of end cover or bearing.

In addition to the above reasons for motor overheating, it should also be seen that poor heat dissipation conditions will also cause motor overheating.

The last, the cause of bad heat dissipation.

The reasons for the poor heat dissipation are as follows:

1. Ambient temperature is too high.

2. There is too much dust inside the motor, which affects heat dissipation.

3, Fan damage or fan installation to reduce the air volume.

The above is the introduction of the four common causes of machine tool motor heating. In the process of use, it is necessary to frequently detect whether the temperature of the punch motor is too high. If the temperature is high, it can be shut down for a period of time before work or other cooling methods can be adopted.
